GRAF Synergy has completed an R&D project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund

MarTa: Centre for MARKing and Cutting of PVC Profiles for the Production of Windows and Doors

Project Description
GRAF Synergy S.r.l. has developed an innovative system for the cutting and marking of PVC profiles. It introduces a hot blade system that allows for precise cuts without generating waste shavings, and a laser marking system that replaces traditional labelers, enhancing reliability and integration within the production cycle. The project has resulted in a functional prototype capable of managing the entire cutting and marking process.

Objectives
The project aimed to develop a machine for cutting and marking PVC profiles that could overcome the limitations of the two previous technologies. In the case of rotary blades, this involved addressing issues related to seal cutting and safety, while for labels, it focused on improving adhesion quality and process precision. The prototype was to be advanced to TRL 7 and tested in a production environment for future commercialisation.

Results
Throughout the project, all planned activities were successfully completed. Several prototypes of the cutting and marking machine for PVC profiles were designed and developed, incorporating all mechanical, electronic, and software components. Following the design phase, the prototypes were assembled and tested to verify their proper functioning and the quality of the results.
